SerifNet sponsor 'Walking For Noah'
Thursday 10th May 2012 11:04 AM
SerifNet are proud to sponsor David for his Hadriens Wall Walk, at just over 82 miles it is
not for the faint hearted. His reason for taking on the challenge is simple, to raise much
needed funds for a bright & happy little 3 year old boy named Noah Woolford.
His birth was extremely traumatic and the doctors did not expect him to live through the first
night of his life. Thankfully he did and every day he amazes his family and specialists with his
achievements. Despite his physical difficulties Noah is a happy, bright, intelligent and sociable
little boy who brings joy to everyone he meets.
His diagnosis is Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy and from being told that Noah would never
walk or talk, he tries extremely hard to vocalise words and he can now say 'Noah', 'mum', 'dad',
'grandma', 'yes' and 'no'. He also uses an electronic communication aid which is unusual for his
age and he is able to propel himself using a fully supportive walking frame with wheels.
The greatest news that the family could ever have wished for was received in March this year
when it was confirmed that Noah is a suitable candidate for the Selective Dorsal Rhyzotomy
operation. Previously this has been carried out at St Louis Children's Hospital in America. More
recently Mr John Goodden has pioneered to get approval for the operation to be carried out at
the Leeds General Infirmary.
The news is amazing, if not a little difficult to comprehend, as once the operation is performed,
followed by lots of intensive physiotherapy, one day Noah may possibly have the chance to walk
himself. A chance he is so determined to take.
Noah's mum and dad, Jean and Andrew, have been advised that the cost of this operation is in
the region of £25,000, plus additional costs for the follow up intensive physiotherapy. Whilst
funding can be applied for there are no guarantees this will be granted.
Therefore family, friends and local communities have started fund raising in the name of
'The Noah Woolford Trust'. To do his small part and help raise funds for Noah he is taking
part in a walk across the UK at the end of May 2012, along Hadrian's Wall.
Please show your support and sponsor David. All funds will go to giving Noah a chance to walk,
please give generously.
To do so simply contact David by return e-mail or phone call (details below) and he will add you
to his sponsor sheet.
Can you please make any cheques payable to 'The Noah Woolford Trust'.
Many thanks on behalf of Noah and his family
